Welcome to the official website of the JSM Diversity Workshop and Mentoring Program! The program is a regular activity of the American Statistical Association’s Committee on Minorities in Statistics (ASA CMS).
The 2012 JSM Diversity Workshop and Mentoring Program will be held Sunday July 29 – Wed August 1 at JSM in San Deigo.
Objectives of the 2012 DWMP include:
- Establishing critical mentoring and networking relationships for minority statisticians at early to mid career levels (i.e., undergraduate students, graduate students, early statistics professionals).
- Motivating students to pursue graduate study and careers in statistics.
- Sharing best practices for recruiting and mentoring minority students and faculty.
- Increasing the active participation of minorities in the American Statistical Association.
The workshop is open to minority graduate students in statistics or biostatistics programs, minority undergraduates in statistics, math, or related disciplines, minority statisticians in academia, government, and the private sector, and key faculty from minority-serving institutions who advise and mentor undergraduates in math or related disciplines.
